225) Conference Season - World Travels

St. Peter's Basilica

December and January are my big conference travel times. ICIS was in Milan so early December saw me heading to Italy. Mostly work in Milan but I had a few days in Rome. These are some pretty pictures (with labels when I could remember what it was!

"I would like a large pepperoni, double anchovy. Yes, delivered to the Castel San Angelo. Look for Mr Death"

 A mural in Milan

Odd juxtaposition of mylar/helium with Milan's Duomo - begun in 1386. The last gate was inaugurated in 1965.

The interior.....

Inside the Milan cathedral.

Up on the roof - amazing spires, ramparts, buttresses. We had to wait to go up due to ice in the morning. I read somewhere that there are 3500 statues decorating the outside.

Mighty duck-serpent gargoyle thing!

A picture I will show my classes to encourage them to graduate....

Inside the Galleria Vitorrio Emmanuelle. From Trip Advisor: "Although this beautiful structure is packed with tourists and full of designer stores way out of my price range the building itself is enough for a trip. The golden ceiling seems to belong to another era as your pushed along with 500 other tourists. Just walking through the building and taking pictures make this galleria worth while."

Next - off to Rome....
